As a retired educator, I bring almost 40 years of experience in public education as a general and special education teacher, vice-principal, principal, and district administrator. My last 25 years were spent as an administrator at 9 schools as well as 4 years as well as School Board Trustee and Current Board President within the Vallejo City Unified School District (VCUSD) - a district for which I have a deep allegiance and love.
I bring to the school board a vision of high expectations and quality instruction for all students. Through my leadership as the inaugural Principal of Jesse M. Bethel High School, we developed an innovative academic program based on content mastery, which reduced student failure and yielded unprecedented graduation and college-going rates.
I believe in the power of building relationships, and developing partnerships between schools and their students, families and communities. As a school leader, I have continuously engaged and empowered all school stakeholders, including students, teachers, support staff, parents, and community at large.
As a parent and grandparent of of past and future VCUSD graduates, I am invested and have confidence in the success of the VCUSD. If re-elected, I will continue to support the strong leadership of our district with the goal of providing the best education for all of our students.
