While serving in my first term on the school board, I am
proud of the many accomplishments that have positively impacted students, community stakeholders, and the school district as a whole. And while these are instrumental in supporting a thriving school district, I recognize there is more work to be done to reach our goals for students. I look forward to building upon the following accomplishments:
●Initiated the strategic planning process in collaboration with fellow trustees, district leadership, staff, students, and community stakeholders.
●Hired the new and current Superintendent, who has brought vision, instructional leadership, and operational expertise to support the shaping of a sustainable district culture for optimal student achievement.
●Continuously monitored the impact of the instructional program on students during the pandemic and currently influence the focus on student achievement moving forward to close equity gaps they persist in the data.
●Instrumental in selling surplus property to support the fiscal recovery of the school district.
●Closely supported the process of becoming fiscally solvent as the district again.
●Supported the employee raise of 5%.
●Provided support and guidance in the hiring of the new Public Information Officer to advance the district’s communication efforts to engage the community and attract new families to the district.
●Provided corrective action to our district authorized charter school to ensure optimal success and outcomes for students.
●Demonstrated instrumental support of the renewing of John Finney School to ensure the vision for students was fulfilled.
●Cultivated partnerships with public and non-public agencies to establish the infant/child care center at the Beverley Hills School site.
●Continuously worked to right the district’s student enrollment to mitigate declining enrollment through multiple efforts in collaboration with district leadership.
●Closely monitored school climate and safety issues by frequently analyzing the data, asking key questions of the staff, as well as visiting campuses.
●Continuously studied the impact of extra-curricular activities and sports on our most talented, yet vulnerable and underserved students in order to develop guidance for allocating of resources to revive our sports, music, and arts programs.
●Continuously made decisions with the vision of educational equity through a “failure is not an option” lens.
